It is the oldest cathedral in the Philippines and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is an explanation board in front of the cathedral indicating that it is a UNESCO cultural property. The Basilica of San Agustin was built in 1571 and was destroyed by fire. So, construction of the current stone building began in 1586 and was completed in 1607. It's a very old building.Over the centuries, the cathedral has withstood numerous natural disasters, including earthquakes and typhoons. Moreover, even though most of Intramuros was destroyed during World War II, this part remained strong. It is said that it has now become a symbol of unchanging faith and patience. However, when I first came here by horse-drawn carriage (Calesa), I tried to go into the cathedral, but it was lunch time and the door was closed. I came back later in the afternoon and went in.The grand and ornate interior, which contrasts sharply with the simple exterior, is truly impressive. The front altar also stood out for its gorgeous and elaborate gold leaf decoration.Looking at the detailed carvings on the wooden door, I could feel the craftsmanship.

A beautiful church, worth visiting. It is worth combining contemplation in the church with getting to know and seeing the Augustinian monastery adjacent to the temple in order to understand the influence of religion on the life of society.

Very beautiful church. Not really much to say about it as I only visited. If it's something that resonates with you, I think you should visit and just pay your respects. A lot of history here. One thing I really appreciated was the fact that it was built eight times over because of many catastrophes in the past. Definite definite recommended for visiting.

One Church everyone must visit in Infamous when doing a tour. It will take 3hrs to visit all the historical buildings and take photos. Most important to have a good local guide that can share the historical moments while walking.

San Augustin Church is a Catholic Church located inside the historic walled city of Intramuros. It is the oldest stone church in the Philippines and was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. Entry to the church itself is free, however you need to pay an entrance fee if you wish to visit the Museum located beside the church. There is also a cafe located inside the museum, in case you get tired from walking around.

In Intramuros lies the oldest church in the Philippines, San Agustin Church. The beautiful stone facade gives you an idea of the history of this beautiful church. The Interior is one of the most beautiful I have seen with the altar also being gorgeous. The church gave me a very spiritual and solemn feeling when praying. Try and check out the museum if you are interested in this historical church. It was very worth it going to the oldest church in the Philippines.

The church has an amazing history and terrific architecture. Don't pass the museum by next door. Adults 200p and worth every peso. Have Inc some pics. You can get into the other parts of the church via museum. But ask if a wedding service or event is taking place while you are there because they will close church off at this time.
