Salcedo Weekend Market

The Salcedo Weekend Market also known as Salcedo Community Market was conceptualized in 2004, initiated by the Salcedo Village community to promote local products and foster a sense of neighborhood camaraderie.
The Salcedo Weekend Market is a popular outdoor market located in Salcedo Village, Makati City, Philippines. It is held every Saturday from morning until early afternoon and is well-loved for its diverse range of offerings. The market showcases gourmet food, fresh produce, artisanal goods, and handcrafted items from both local and international vendors.
You can find an array of dishes, including Filipino delicacies, international cuisines, organic products, and unique desserts. Many food enthusiasts, tourists, and locals frequent the market for its vibrant atmosphere and quality offerings. It’s a great place to discover new flavors, enjoy fresh meals, and shop for specialty items, making it a must-visit spot for weekend activities in the Makati area.

At the Salcedo Weekend Market, there’s plenty to see, do, and enjoy beyond just buying food. Here are some highlights:

1. Gourmet Food and Specialty Dishes:

You’ll find a variety of food stalls offering both local and international cuisine, from Filipino favorites like lechon, adobo, and kakanin (rice cakes) to international options like Japanese sushi, Mediterranean kebabs, or Italian pasta.
There are also vegan, vegetarian, and organic options, ensuring there’s something for every diet.
2. Fresh Produce and Organic Goods:
Farmers bring fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and spices to the market. You can shop for locally grown organic produce or specialty items that are often hard to find in grocery stores.
There are also stalls selling artisanal bread, cheeses, and homemade jams.
3. Handcrafted and Artisanal Goods:
Besides food, the market also offers a selection of locally made crafts and artisanal products. You can find handmade soaps, jewelry, pottery, and home décor items that make for unique souvenirs or gifts.
4. Live Music, Cultural Activities and Performances:
Occasionally, the market features live music or small performances by local artists, enhancing the laid-back weekend vibe.
5. Pet-Friendly Atmosphere:
The market is pet-friendly, and you’ll often see people bringing their dogs or cats. Some stalls even cater to pets, selling homemade treats and pet-friendly products.
6. Relaxing in the Park:
The Salcedo Community Park, where the market is held, offers a relaxing atmosphere with shaded areas where you can sit, eat, and enjoy your purchases. It’s also a good spot to take a break and enjoy the surroundings.
7. Meeting Local Entrepreneurs:
Many vendors at the market are local entrepreneurs or small business owners. You can interact with them, learn about their products, and even get custom-made items like fresh flower arrangements or specially packed gift baskets.

A good place to visit during the weekend. Plenty of good options including fresh produce. Just be a bit mindful as there are usually lots of people going there especially if you are bringing kids. You can enjoy some artisan pastries here together with regional delicacies.

Salcedo Weekend Market was a fun morning/afternoon out. Lots of different stalls, from fresh food and produce to cooked BBQ and bakery items. Something for everyone.Grab drop off point by Starbucks too so it's easy to commute there. Only thing would be if the stalls would span the entire block because after maybe 30 mins of walking you'll find that you've done it all!

Finally the sun is out and we decided to go to Salcedo weekend market. There were a lot of people and also an ongoing Brazilian activity. The atmosphere was very festive. Kids were playing at the playground while the parents shop. We bought Thai and Vietnamese food which we ate on one of the picnic tables. We took home pandesal, empanadas, chicken and beef biryani, phad thai, shrimps from Alavar, "suman and inutak" ( native rice delicacies), pomelos and buco kefir. There were a lot of food to choose from. Our visit was short but we had fun!

This was one of the local weekend markets in my itinerary. To be honest, I felt a little bit disappointed because I thought the market would be full of local foods and dishes, but it's not, it's more about other countries'food. Although it was just a few stalls with local foods, the 'weekend vibes' were still great, and I really enjoyed myself. It's a great market with fruit stalls, meat, fishes, etc. I love the culture of pets friendly in the Philippines, I can see people walking with dogs in the market everywhere, It's really great.
